  8. Short BiographyMattias Collin, PhD was born in Sandviken, Sweden in 1971. He went to Medical School at Lund University in his home country , and became involved early on in research on immu- nomodulating molecules from pathogenic microorganisms. He obtained his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2001, and continued his post- doctoral training in V incent A. FischettiÕ s Laboratory at the Rockefeller University in New Y ork. In 2004 he returned to Lund University to form his own research group focusing on pathogen derived immunomodu- lating molecules for biotechnological and therapeutic pur- poses. He is currently an Associate Professor in Experimental Infection Medicine within the Division of Infection Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences, at the Medical Faculty of Lund University , Lund, Sweden.
