For long imitation research has relied on subjective classifications of the investigators as "this behavior looks similar" or "they did it the same way". The authors of this paper put much effort in getting rid of such vague concepts and tried to formalize objective measures of similarity. This is an important step forward in imitation research. A weak point of this work might be the relatively moderate sample size - however this is (unfortunately) quite common for such studies.
