Competing Interests
The authors have read the journal's policy and have the following conflicts: Authors Nicole Haex and Holger Gruell are employed by Philips Research. Author Dirk Burdinski was employed by Philips Research at the time that the research was conducted. Philips Research filed a patent application (WO 2012/001579 A1) regarding the synthesis of the nanoparticles with co-authors Dirk Burdinski and Nicole Haex.
