In 2005, an updated version of the LAC population data was made available at the website of the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). It can be accessed here

http://gisweb.ciat.cgiar.org/population/index.htm

There are several important improvements in the input population data (more, smaller administrative units and more recent census') as well as better GIS data for the accessibility model. The population modelling methods are identical to those used for the UNEP LAC data.
