Multiple strains of EcO157 were isolated from four soil samples obtained near cattle fecal samples at F/R C, as noted in the CDHS-FDA report of the spinach outbreak investigation (see reference 9). Of the 8 strains isolated and selected for further study, all were identical, or highly related, to one another by MLVA (3 different MLVA types); PFGE profiles were unrelated to the outbreak strains.
