Roleplaying as simulation

Posted by JeremyMiles on 16 May 2007 at 04:38 GMT

There is a small history of research of this type, where environments are simulated, rather than created in reality. One example which used the Milgram paradigm was: Daniel M. Geller, "Involvement in Role-Playing Simulations: A Demonstration with Studies on Obedience," Journal of Personality and Social Psychology 36 (1978): 219-35.

There were a few papers in this area in the 1970s, but then it sort of died down - and I think that questions were left unanswered. I'm pleased to see this sort of thing being done.
