Irenesauripus & trackway B

Posted by Robertotherium on 25 Jul 2014 at 04:52 GMT

Hi, congratulations for such an amazing paper.

My questions are:

Did you tried to test the microstructure of the Irenesauripus mclearni track to asess differences with those of Bellatoripes fredlundi and see if they was made arround the same time of not?

The trackway B (PRPRC 2012.04.002) is "just" one footprint, what happened to the other footprints? I mean, is there any evidence of weathering or fracture of the rock?

Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your positive comment and questions.

The Irenesauripus mclearni track is from an older formation (Gates Fm. ~100my bp) and was included to contrast this relatively gracile large theropod print from the much more robust Bellatoripes fredlundi prints described in this paper.

Trackway B consists of two prints so far. We only included one in the trackway map because it was found too late in the year for us to clean it up and collect data on it. In short, it snowed shortly after it was found. We did include an image of the second print in Trackway B in the paper though.

There is a very good chance that more prints in all three trackways may be found in the future. We plan to continue the excavation in to the cliff face later this summer.

All the Best,

Richard T. McCrea
