It is remarkable that the nearly 50 imprints identified by the authors as footprints exhibit a near random orientation regarding cardinal direction and size. It is even more remarkable that no tracks can be seen among them, like in Roccamonfina or in the more than 3 million years old Laetoli footprints. Thus, no walking hominins caused the imprints of Happisburgh, perhaps even not standing ones, unless they were not bipedal, but monopedal. These facts suggest that these shallow depressions are no footprints at all. Since no other evidence, such as stone tools, bones etc. was found nearby, it is much more likely that it is simply a natural phenomenon.
