The nesting of the Caseasauria

Eocasea indeed nests at the base of the caseasauria, and it is wonderful to add this specimen to our knowledge of basal reptiles, but the caseasauria nest between the Diadectomorpha and the Millerettidae, not at the base of the Synapsida, whenever more taxa are included in phylogenetic analysis, as shown here: www.reptileevolution.com/.... In that tree these clades were preceded by the basal amniotes, the Captorhinomorpha and Romeria primus. Several of these lineages include unambiguous herbivores and carnivores. In particular, Eocasea demonstrates many striking similarities with Australothyris and Feeserpeton, two non-synapsids close to Milleretta also not included in the Reisz, Fröbisch matrix.
