Substantially different procedure for control and test groups

The test group animals were shaved to bare skin, while test group was not shaved. The stress of shaving an animal may have resulted in physiological stress reactions (such as the observed high blood glucose) as well in higher anxiety and hyperactivity of the test group. The wounding would also be different on a shaved skin vs animal fur covered skin. Further, the shaving of only the test group prevents the blinded handling, wounding and comparisons between the groups.
