APP as Iron export

Based on our work Dr. Ashley Buth the senior author of the cell paper (Duce et al. (2010) Cell 142: 857-867) has accepted that the ferroxidase activity which was reported by Duce et al. is possibly incorrect. Please see Dr. Ashley Bush comment in Alzheimer Forum on this paper (http://www.alzforum.org/p...). However, it is possible that APP interacts with ferroportin and modulate export of iron by ferroportin. Any function of APP as a protein that can facilitate export of iron by interaction with other proteins such as ferroportin should be further evaluated.
