Thus reads a the headline in the Jerusalem Post describing this article.
The study is elegant in scope and breadth and meets rigorous statistical analysis standards.
I just have some cautionary misgivings regarding conclusions, especially as popularized in the press.
There is no evidence that surviving the Shoah somehow added to life expectancy or mysteriously enhance health and longevity. What we have here is a missing cohort : the dead.
Actually if you think of it, a group of survivors in the most dire of circumstance have just gone through an incredible selection process and should be expected to have enhanced health throughout their future.
Nice work, nice study, but more valuable as anecdotal science rather than groundbreaking science.
