Should I conclude that PLoS one staff will be contacting each of these outlets to correct their misunderstanding of the results? Even setting aside the concerns over study design and faulty statistical analysis raised in another comment, the bottom line is that none of the conditions significantly improved recall compared to the no-clench control. Possibly there was a small "reduction" in performance relative to control in some of the groups, though this would need to be confirmed by an appropriately-designed and sufficiently-powered study.

Even if the findings hold true, then the appropriate summary is that for maximum recall, right-handers should avoid distracting themselves by doing irrelevant exercises with their non-dominant hand. Hardly surprising.

They could send a note to these outlets, with a link to the comments section, at least. But business models and good science don't usually go well together.
