Greed....

The Hippocratic oath tends to find its boundaries when it comes into the realm of research. Wherein doctors and scientists of old were all part of a wonderful and exciting society that, while in a class by themselves, often found the opportunity to share and grow as professionals by making sure that the society "within" had access to relevant information. The point in this article is made and presented in a manner consistent with the "political correctness" demanded by same said groups. Ladies and gentlemen: research grants, big name drugs, and the usual beasts are at play here. The oath only means something if it is applied in the first place, and if the same Physicians, Scientists and Researchers aren't held to corporate secrecy agreements, non-competes and legal action. The real cause here is simple...greed.
