I wonder what would have happened if the control group would also have practiced 20 hours more with the laparoscopic training procedures? Would it not have been better to have had 3 groups? One additonal one, that also practiced 20 extra hours?

That is an interesting aspect we thought about at the very beginning of the study. Unfortunately, it would have lead only to prove the validity of the simulator, which was already demonstrated, as you can see on the web-page of the simulator itself (http://simbionix.com/simu...).
As simulators are rather expensive, we were looking for a cheap way to optimize its use: we have plenty of students and residents and only one simulator. That is why we tried the experiment: while you acquire depth perception and movement coordination with video games, you train for laparoscopy on the simulator...
