Why "about 15%"? According to Steinfeld et al. (2006) the livestock sector is "responsible for 18 percent of greenhouse gas emissions measured in CO2 equivalent".

Indeed, Steinfeld et al (2006) estimated 18%. However, during the workshop in 2012 (the other reference) this estimate was changed to 15% by Steinfeld. Since the estimate is from the same author and it is more recent it seems logical to name the 15% in the text instead of the 2006 figure.

There is a PDF of the presentation. I do not know if there is a new publication stating this number as well.

I have received the PDF from a speaker, and although the program is to be found online, I do not see the individual PDF's. I would suggest to contact the organization, or even better Steinfeld himself. If that does not work, please send me an email and I will see what I can do.
