The two Abyssogena sp. samples were collected during the RV Meteor cruise M64/1, not during the RV l’Atalante cruise MARSUED IV as listed in the Methods and Table 1. The sample name was M64/1 125 ROV 7 and the individual numbers were 2 and 3. They were collected at the Wideawake site on the South Mid-Atlantic Ridge (4 degrees 48.62 minutes S, 12 degrees 22.35 minutes W) at a depth of 2987 m.
