Sequence deposition in database

Posted by mikeyj1 on 17 Oct 2012 at 09:16 GMT

I was unable to find reference to an accession number for sequence deposition. Submission to a reference database is required by PLOS ONE editorial guidelines, but seems to be being overlooked by authors, reviewers and editors. There are multiple databases that will accept HTS amplicon data including MG RAST http://metagenomics.anl.g... NCBI http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.g... and ENA http://www.ebi.ac.uk/ena/. There is also an established minimum information reference, MIMARKS to which these studies should endeavour to comply http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.g.... Though this can take some time to complete, the QIIME analysis software has tools to help rendering a sequence submission compliant http://www.microbio.me/qi...
