Although this might be possible for paxilline inhibition, iberiotoxin, as stated in the introduction, is membrane-impermeable and hence unlikely to reach and inhibit mitochondrial BK channels, if present. Thus, the iberiotoxin-induced bradycardia shown in Fig. 3 strictly rules out any mitochondrial channel involvement in this novel mechanism.
