Gieger et al. also detected an association at this locus

probably reflecting a lack of power in these latter studies

Contrary to this statement, Gieger et al. (PLoS Genetics, 2008) *do* report an association of this locus with serum phospholipid concentrations. They attribute it to the nearby FADS1 gene, based on functional considerations. This association has been replicated by Illig et al. (Nature Genetics, 42:137-141, 2010).
