A nice method for applying genomics to the niche concept.

The concept of niche is one that depending on ones view point can be defined very differently. What is exciting about this work is that it takes horizontal gene transfers and uses them in this context as an important niche defining trait. The work here matches some observations that we have made in proteomics research.
