Uncovering the basis of cephalic neural crest delamination…

Posted by LilianaOsorio on 09 Nov 2007 at 14:55 GMT

The existence of significant differences in the delamination of neural crest cells in cranial as compared to trunk level of the axis has been considered before. However, no data was available concerning the mechanisms leading to these differences. Now with this work, we start to get insight about these mechanisms and to uncover the basis of the characteristic neural crest cell delamination at cephalic levels. Moreover, it constitutes a great example of how neural crest fate and neural crest delamination are independent processes. To finish, I would like to congratulate the author for doing all these beautiful illustrations.
