Explanation of Kirlian Photography?

A very interesting paper. It would also be interesting to measure this bio-luminance and look for other variations such as with disease, stress levels and general levels of happiness. I am not at all an expert in this field but, I was wondering if this could also be an explanation for the Kirlian photography patters of human hands?

A cultural fact of unknown importance - Many major religions have shown their gods/great men with some sort of an aura, especially so in Hinduism. Additionally, in Hinduism, it is believed that one's aura dips in case of stress or immoral behaviour. An interesting parallel to note.
