Biological implications and the possibility of second site interactions?

Do you attribute a biologic significance to AaOR8's ability to distinguish between these two enantomers? For example, what exactly is known about natural sources of 1-octen-3-ol and their respective entanomeric compositions? The article mentions a cattle study from 1984, but can we say that there is a more general trend that favors one form over the other?

Secondly, regarding the structure/activity relationship, have you considered looking at the possibility of allostericity? It could be possible that the two enantiomers interact with different sites on the receptor.
