Referee 1's review (Catherine E. Krull):
In this manuscript, the authors describe using electroporation to label cells in the olfactory system of the postnatal rodent. Overall, the approach is well-described and labels multiple cell types. Furthermore, this approach should be very useful in delivering shRNAs and controlling the timing of protein disruption. I have a couple comments and these are listed below:
1. Did the authors check cell death following electroporation, using TUNEL for example?
2. Is the concentration of their plasmid really 1-5 ug/ml? In chick, it is typical to use highly concentrated DNA (1-5 ug/ul).
