correlation is not causation

Importantly we show that fellatio increases the duration of copulation.

the authors have only shown that there is a correlation between fellatio and the duration of copulation

isn't it possible that it works the other way? maybe fellatio is the result of longer-duration copulation and not the cause.

for example, perhaps longer-duration copulation causes discomfort, and the female is reacting to that discomfort by providing additional lubrication.
