Our recent accepted data also confirmed the same conclusions that: 1. AKT suppression potentiates resveratrol's effect on breast cancer cells; And 2. In breast cancer cells with WT PTEN (MCF7 AND MDAMB-231), resveratrol showed better effects on induction of apoptosis, as well as on combination therapy with rapamycin/ly294002 than in breast cancer cells with pten null (BT549).

Resveratrol enhances the anti-tumor activity of the mTOR inhibitor rapamycin in multiple breast cancer cell lines mainly by suppressing rapamycin-induced AKT signaling.
