I JUST WANT TO ASK THE AUTHORS TO COMMENT ABOUT THIS POINT: HOW CAN THEY EXCLUDE THAT THE VARIANTS THEY FOUND ARE NOT SIMPLY FREQUENT POLYMORPHISMS IN THE GENERAL POPULATION? THANKS

Hello Diego. You are right -- we cannot tell from this data whether a variant is a common polymorphism or not. An association study comparing these healthy oldest old to the general population would be required to determine this.
