Airplanes and Diabetes

It is interesting that even those at chronically high altitudes have changes in GLUT1 and the glucose extraction level. One would think there is some sort of adaptation. Similarly, placing pregnant women on airplanes should do the same? Perhaps airflight would increase lactacidemia rates? I don't recall there being any connection, though. Anyone care to comment?
