Possible citation error in introduction

Posted by jpearce on 21 May 2013 at 16:47 GMT

In the Introduction, the authors state the following:

"Furthermore, serosurveys have documented widespread exposure globally to multiple HA (H3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 12) and NA (N2, 3, 7, 8) subtypes including in ringed (Phoca hispida), harp (Phoca groenlandicus), and hooded (Cystophora cristata) seals, and walrus (Odobenus rosmarus), as well as more recently in harbor seals off California [9]–[12]."

However, the walrus reference (10: Nielsen et al.) states in the abstract that, "None of the 210 walruses (Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus), 76 narwhals (Monodon monoceros) and four bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus) had
detectable antibodies to influenza A."

Thus, reference to exposure in walrus appears to be an error.
