Casey Bergman's Evaluation of this article at Faculty of 1000 Biology

Posted by NiyazAhmed on 29 Jun 2008 at 08:13 GMT

Casey Bergman (University of Manchester, United Kingdom) has evaluated and endorsed this article at the Faculty of 1000 Biology. His/her comments are as follows:

"This paper reports the first transgenic analysis of a cis-regulatory element cloned from an extinct species. Although no differences were seen in the expression pattern of the collagen (Col2A1) enhancer from the extinct Tasmanian tiger and extant mouse, this work is an important proof of principle for using ancient DNA in the evolutionary analysis of gene regulation".
