Origin of Indian HIV-1C

The work in this article does not explain the phrase “from a single or few genetically related African lineages” in the first sentence of the conclusion part of the abstract. Their work showed that the HIV-1C epidemic originated around 40 years earlier but does not show that the origin was from African lineage (Figure 3), and thus misleading the understanding of the article, since the abstract is suppose to SUCCINCTLY COMMUNICATE THEIR WORK.

The works of other’s (Dalai et al 2009; Tully and Wood 2010) that they quoted had dated entry of HIV-1C into African countries to dates earlier than 1971 and thus they are right to stated that the Indian HIV-1C epidemic “is LIKELY to be the oldest HIV-1C epidemic outside Africa”, but they have failed to prove origin (Figure 3).
