A request to clarify a methodological issue

The univariate analysis clearly demonstrated high statistical significance for the association of both older age and hypertension with advanced-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). This association is of no surprise of course and is common medical knowledge.

Therefore, the decision of the authors not to include these risk factors of CKD (age and hypertension) in their multivariate-adjusted model albeit the significance and previous medical knowledge should be clarified in my opinion.
