closePublisher's Note: Errors in the Materials and Methods section
Posted by PLOS_ONE_Group on 21 Jan 2014 at 17:32 GMT
Errors were introduced in the Materials and Methods section, under the subheading "Bacterial Strains". The correct paragraph is:
L. gasseri expressing PA-DCpep and L. gasseri ATCC 33323 were inoculated at 1% and propagated in de Man, Rogosa and Sharpe (MRS) broth (Difco) supplemented with erythromycin (5 µg/mL) at 37°C for 15 h. Subsequently, 1 mL of each culture was transferred to 10 mL of fresh MRS broth supplemented with erythromycin (5 µg/mL) and incubated at 37°C for 18 h. In preparation for oral administration, the concentration of the L. gasseri strains were adjusted based on OD600 readings that had been previously correlated with CFU numbers [11]<http://www.plosone.org/ar...>. [^] L. gasseri PA-DCpep and L. gasseri alone were centrifuged, pelleted, and 107 and 109 CFU bacteria were re-suspended in 100 µL of PBS prior to oral gavage of the mice. To vaccinate the mice with 1012 CFU bacteria, the bacterial pellet was re-suspended in 600 µL of PBS, which was gradually administrated in quantities of 100 µL.
