Probabilities of hatching and survival

Given relatively high hatching (average ca. 0.8, Fig 3) and fledging probabilities (average ca. 0.8 – reported for completely hatched broods, Fig 1) it is puzzling why combined survival is as low as 0.4 (Fig 4). Is it caused by lower post-hatching survival in incompletely hatched broods?

I think the apparent discrepancy between the probabilities of hatching in all broods, fledging in broods with 100% hatching success, and fledging in all broods is probably due to low hatching survival in incompletely hatched broods, as you indicate.
