This paper is crippled by several methodological flaws which result in a flawed discussion. In particular, the authors' choice of STRs generates a strong ascertainment bias that affects their interpreation of the STR network. The contraindicated use of evolutionary mutation rates in BATWING analysis produces erroneous TMRCA estimates
