Diminishing local reactions caused by oily ISA-51

To diminish local reactions caused by oily ISA-51, one can use hydrophilic emulsifiers such as Tween or PEG-based bioresorbable polymers to stabilize the interfaces between the oily Montanide ISA 51 adjuvant and the antigen media. Tween or polymer-stabilized ISA51 emulsions have high affinity to water, such that the stock of antigen-encapsulating emulsion could be re-dispersed into PBS before injection, thus yielding stable and injectable W/O/W emulsion nanoparticles, as described in Pharm Res 2009, 26(8), 1856. doi: 10.1007/s11095-009-9898-y
