closesimplification of ATOMS please

Despite RSS for this intriguing and very important study, its impact and benefits might be shared with and appreciated by a much wider readership if there was some simplified explanation of ATOMS provided. How might it relate to conceptual atomism and atomic cores, as described at http://plato.stanford.edu... ? This study and the one by Takahata K et al.. "It’s Not My Fault: Postdictive Modulation of Intentional Binding by Monetary Gains and Losses." PLoS ONE 2012 7(12): e53421, very impressive address of "free will", much thanks.

kdarwish,
as a Counseling Assessment student I had the opportunity to undergo the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). I was gratified to see that on the "lie scale" I had a reliable score. I was a bit troubled by having a scale score that was similar to that of an "intact psychotic." Not one to let that be, I decided to search the web for an explanation of how/when a person can be psychotic and intact.
I found the "ATOMS" article to be helpful in advancing my understanding of my Mother's largely soundless responses to internal, mental stimuli (described further in my above comment) and what I observed some patients doing while I was working on an adult psychiatric inpatient unit of a behavioral health center.
Taking my time chewing through the very rich "ATOMS" and the ESM paradigm has left me hungry for more too.

kdarwish,
I'd bet that was the original edition of the MMPI that I took as a grad student. The scores from that version of the MMPI may, nevertheless, have some heuristic value. I won't begin to hazard a guess as to how much.
