Double-Edged Swords

Small molecules such as triptolide have been shown by many reports to have beneficial effects, however, it has been labeled as highly poisonous (recently by Y. Wang et. Al. Ethnopharmacology, 2011). That said, this study supports triptolide can be used as a pharmacological tool to further study RXRs role in cancer development. I wish they would have gone into more depth with the silencing study. Why did the combination of RXR knock down with TR01 not cause more apoptosis then with the scrambled siRNA?
