Thought provoking article by Niyaz. If we looked at history of genome sequencing projects, in the beginning it was very important achievement to sequence a bacterial genome. But with the advent of various high throughput molecular technologies sequencing a bacterial genome became a technical job. It could be seen as reflection of the impact of journals where the early sequenced genome were published compared to the later ones.
This article very nicely highlights that how huge genome sequence (including different serovars and strain groups) data generated by people still help to understand basic biology of organism including its economical, environmental and pathological impacts whatever is applicable. In my opinion the community was very much needful for an article of this kind.
