Figures 2 and 3 - the use of species-specific probes

Posted by irnewton on 20 Mar 2012 at 15:22 GMT

These two figures are great because they are, to my knowledge, the first high-resolution images of microbial biofilms associated with the bee crop. In order to determine if these organisms are truly "Lactobacillus" species, it would be necessary to perform an "in situ" hybridization using species specific probes.
