The lack of change in deaf Otoferlin-KO mice is not due to the syllable number

As we have noted in the paper (Hammerschmidt et al. 2012), we tested the influence of varying number of syllable types (cluster solutions), and there was none. The data are presented in the supplement.

Hi Julia, I forgot to respond to this comment before. To clarify what we mention in the PLoS ONE paper is that for some of the sound features that we found changes in deaf animals in the PLoS ONE paper we had up to 11 syllable categories, but your study had 2-3 categories where you did not find a difference. But for the sound amplitude analyses, your study examined up to 9 categories similar to what we did, and here the two studies agree - no detected signficant changes in sound amplitude of the deaf animals.
