closeUnit conversion problem in Table 6
Posted by Emmanuel_Grellety on 13 Apr 2013 at 15:24 GMT
Dear Editor,
I am contacting you today regarding the article published in PLOS One ref 2012; 7(9):e44549: Grellety E, Shepherd S, Roederer T, Manzo ML, Doyon S, et al. Effect of Mass Supplementation with Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food during an Anticipated Nutritional Emergency.
As the first author, I would like to inform you that, a few days ago, we discovered a unit conversion problem in table 6 (see correction below). This problem does not affect the interpretation of results but I would like to publish an erratum in PLOS ONE so that readers may have the properly converted figures.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Emmanuel Grellety
In the original text, abstract part:
“The absolute rate of wasting was 4.71 events per child-year (503 events/106.59 child-year) in the intervention group and 4.98 events per child-year (322 events/64.54 child-year) in the comparison group.”
Correction:
“The absolute rate of wasting was 1.59 events per child-year (503 events/315.3 child-year) in the intervention group and 1.78 events per child-year (322 events/180.4 child-year) in the comparison group.”
In the original text, results section:
“The absolute rate of wasting was 4.71 events per child-year (503 events/1,280 child-months) in the intervention group and 4.98 events per child-year (322 events/775 child-months) in the comparison group.”
Correction:
“The absolute rate of wasting was 1.59 events per child-year (503 events/3,784 child-months) in the intervention group and 1.78 events per child-year (322 events/2,165 child-months) in the comparison group.”
In the original text, results section:
“Mortality was lower for children whose households were in the intervention group than those who were not (adjusted HR: 0.55, 95% CI: 0.32 to 0.98) (Table 4).”
Correction:
“Mortality was lower for children whose households were in the intervention group than those who were not (adjusted HR: 0.55, 95% CI: 0.32 to 0.98) (Table 6).”
In the original text, discussion section:
“It is important to note that the population was under very severe stress with mortality rates when expressed in conventional emergency terms of 1.6/10,000/d for the intervention group and 2.7/10,000/d for the comparison group.”
Correction:
“It is important to note that the population was under very severe stress with mortality rates when expressed in conventional emergency terms of 1.7/10,000/d for the intervention group and 2.9/10,000/d for the comparison group.”
