PRA in our Papillon breeding stock

Posted by irenelester on 24 Feb 2014 at 16:13 GMT

Hello:
I am a Canadian Papillon breeder who very recently found out about the DNA testing for PRA1 in Papillons.
Having bred one of my females to a particular stud (which I do not own) in 2013, and wishing to do a repeat breeding, I had both animals tested. To our shock BOTH proved to be carriers.
Now to carry on with our combined breeding stock, we are finding the added costs overwhelming. I have 2 more females the need to be tested, the other breeder has about 6 females to test (I paid for her stud to be tested as she just could not afford to do so herself).
My question then is: is there any way we can contribute to your research, and can you help us by testing our dogs for us so we may select the right animals for future breedings?
